Although extraction is always a last resort, there are times when it is the best treatment option. If your wisdom teeth are causing you any problems, Eagle Ridge Dental Clinic is pleased to offer wisdom teeth extractions!
The third and final set of molars to erupt, your wisdom teeth are located in the very back of the mouth. They usually develop in the late teens or early twenties, but they can erupt anywhere between the ages of 14-30. Some people never get a full set of wisdom teeth. For many people, wisdom teeth grow in properly and do not cause any problems at all. For many others however, wisdom teeth can prove to be problematic, and dental intervention is necessary in order to avoid dangerous complications. If problematic wisdom teeth are left untreated, it could lead to gum disease, tooth decay, and occlusion problems.
Advantages of Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth may be considered for removal if they are showing signs that might compromise your oral health, if they are causing damage to the adjacent structures, or if they are causing you any pain. Oftentimes, your dentist will recognize that your wisdom teeth will become problematic before they actually do, and so will recommend preventative removal before the roots are fully developed. Eagle Ridge Dental Clinic will thoroughly assess your bite and take a series of diagnosis x-rays to see exactly what is going on in your gums and bone tissue, and decide if wisdom teeth removal would be best for you.
